The Need
The retail industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven by rising customer expectations for frictionless, seamless, and fully integrated shopping experiences. Traditional physical stores, heavily dependent on wallets, checkout lines, and fragmented digital touchpoints, struggle to meet the demand for speed, convenience, and personalization.
There was a clear need to reimagine the physical store as a phygital experience, where digital intelligence enhances every step of the customer journey. Inspired by models such as Amazon Go, the challenge was to eliminate friction points while preserving the human, experiential nature of in-store shopping.
For Oracle, this meant pioneering a wallet-free retail environment capable of unifying omnichannel engagement, biometric access, loyalty, gamification, and marketing orchestration into a single, coherent ecosystem. Customers needed to move effortlessly between physical and digital environments, accessing stores through facial recognition, shopping without wallets, and receiving contextual, personalized interactions in real time.
The initiative also addressed a critical external constraint: the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. When physical access was restricted, customers still needed a way to explore, interact with, and shop from the store. This created the need for a virtual 3D store experience, extending the physical environment into the digital world without breaking the shopping journey.
Executed at Casa Oracle, Oracle’s innovation hub in São Paulo, the project was designed to serve as a blueprint for the future of retail—where physical and digital converge, checkout disappears, and customer experience becomes the primary differentiator.
My Role and Key Results
My responsibilities:
• Led stakeholder alignment and executive validations to frame real-world phygital retail scenarios and customer experience priorities.
• Defined the product and experience strategy for Oracle’s first global wallet-free, omnichannel retail concept store.
• Designed the end-to-end UX, UI, and interaction model integrating biometrics, cloud services, and in-store digital experiences.
• Validated Oracle Cloud architecture and integrations with technical teams, ensuring scalability, security, and real-time orchestration.
• Managed the initiative end-to-end, from concept and prototyping to deployment at Casa Oracle and executive demonstrations.
Results Achieved:
• Delivered Oracle’s first global phygital retail store, establishing a new reference for wallet-free, omnichannel retail experiences.
• Positioned Oracle as a benchmark for innovation in the retail sector, demonstrating the convergence of cloud, biometrics, AI, and customer experience.

The client application elevates the user experience through innovative features such as “Scan & Fill,” allowing customers to scan product barcodes either at home or within the physical store. In addition, a fully immersive 3D virtual store was developed to overcome the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling customers to explore and interact with the store remotely when in-person visits were not possible.
