About the competition
MadHacks is Oracle’s largest global hackathon, bringing together teams from around the world to build innovative, AI-driven solutions to real business challenges.
The Solution
In pursuit of first place in the competition, I conceived a data-driven solution designed to empower farmers with actionable insights and predictive scenarios derived from satellite imagery. The platform leveraged Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and advanced analytics to translate complex satellite data into practical decision-making tools for agriculture.
The challenge focused on addressing critical agricultural needs, including irrigation optimization, wildfire prediction, soil health analysis, fertilizer application timing, and accurate weather forecasting.
To define the solution’s objectives, I conducted in-depth interviews with farmers across Brazil and collaborated with leading agricultural research institutions, including Embrapa. This discovery phase enabled the identification and mapping of the most pressing challenges in the agricultural sector.
The solution development journey progressed from UX and interface prototyping to a fully functional implementation, integrating satellite data with AI-powered models. A key milestone occurred during a visit to INPE (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais) in São José dos Campos, where we secured access to Brazilian satellite data.
By integrating real-time satellite information through APIs, the platform reached an unprecedented level of precision and scalability, significantly enhancing its predictive and analytical capabilities.
My Role and Key Results
My responsibilities:
• Defined the product vision and strategy for an AI-driven agritech platform leveraging satellite imagery, computer vision, and advanced analytics.
• Led discovery and research across the agro sector, engaging directly with farmers and agricultural institutions to map real operational challenges.
• Acted as the strategic liaison with INPE, enabling access to Brazilian satellite data and aligning scientific research with product development.
• Designed end-to-end customer journeys, UX, UI, and interaction models to translate complex geospatial data into actionable insights.
• Oversaw the full development lifecycle, validating Oracle Cloud services and integrations from concept to production-ready solution.
Results Achieved:
• First Place – Latin American Awards (Oracle MadHacks), recognizing the solution’s innovation, technical excellence, and real-world impact in agribusiness.
• Established a global benchmark for AI-driven agritech solutions within Oracle Global, demonstrating the scalable use of satellite imagery, computer vision, and advanced analytics.
• Generated strategic sales pipeline opportunities, positioning the solution as a catalyst for enterprise conversations in the agriculture and sustainability sectors.
• Featured as a flagship success story at the Oracle Innovation Center, showcasing end-to-end cloud, AI, and UX capabilities.
• Validated the integration of real-time satellite data via APIs, achieving high levels of precision, scalability, and predictive accuracy for agricultural decision-making.
