The Need
The objective was to implement an interactive, AI-driven recommendation system within the supermarket, leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI services to deliver personalized product recommendations, enhance the customer experience, and optimize the overall shopping journey.
Imagine walking into your favorite supermarket. As you add items to your cart, a smart, connected experience quietly comes to life.
A digital cart mirrors the physical basket, automatically reflecting the products you’ve selected.
With a simple QR code scan, the customer accesses a mobile web application and scans the contents of their cart or basket.
Powered by AI, the system identifies each item and, based on the customer’s preferences, generates personalized recipe recommendations using Cohere LLM.
Once a recipe is selected, the platform intelligently suggests complementary products that are not yet in the cart, creating a seamless, contextual, and personalized shopping journey.
My Role and Key Results
My responsibilities:
• Defined the product vision and strategy for an AI-driven agritech platform leveraging satellite imagery, computer vision, and advanced analytics.
• Led discovery and research across the agro sector, engaging directly with farmers and agricultural institutions to map real operational challenges.
• Acted as the strategic liaison with INPE, enabling access to Brazilian satellite data and aligning scientific research with product development.
• Designed end-to-end customer journeys, UX, UI, and interaction models to translate complex geospatial data into actionable insights.
• Oversaw the full development lifecycle, validating Oracle Cloud services and integrations from concept to production-ready solution.
Results Achieved:
• Delivered Oracle Global’s first AI-powered retail solution, establishing a foundational use case for applied Artificial Intelligence within physical shopping environments.
• Created a new benchmark for innovation at Oracle Global, demonstrating the integration of AI, cloud infrastructure, and user-centered design in retail.
• Enabled strategic sales pipeline generation, using the solution as a tangible conversation starter with enterprise retail clients.
• Showcased as a flagship success story at the Oracle Innovation Center, reinforcing Oracle’s leadership in AI-driven customer experience.
• Validated personalized, context-aware recommendations in-store, proving the feasibility of enhancing customer experience and basket value through AI.
